SWSW Awards 2019

2019 SWSW Award winners

The Annual Award Ceremony for the SWSW Perryman/Bolitho Award for Musical Achievement was held at Duckpool Cottage, Coombe Valley, Morwenstow on Sunday 21st July.

This year’s winner of the £100 first prize is Robin (Bobbo) Peers, from the Atlantic Academy. He is an outstanding musician, playing the saxophone and piano, as well as being an excellent singer. Many local people will have seen Bobbo on stage taking a lead role at the Bude Youth Theatre musical productions at Budehaven. Having also completed a composition course, Bobbo composed one of the songs for their latest production! Maryasha Elvey, from West Buckland Prep School, is a well-deserved runner-up and she received £50 for her achievements on the piano, violin and theory. Maryasha also sings in two choirs and plays percussion in the Wind Band at School. Both Award winners have made great contributions to music in the Community in their local areas. Thanks to our SWSW Patron, Dr Rosie Richardson, who presented the prizes.
